The Challenge of a Gospel Meeting

A Gospel Meeting is a Challenge to . . .

  1. Our FAITH in the GOSPEL
    1. Romans 1:14-16 Speaking of the Gospel, Paul said he was
      1. INDEBTED to preach it
      2. READY to preach it (cf. Eph 6:15; 2 Tim 2:15)
      3. Not ASHAMED to preach it (cf. Mark 8:38)
    2. Isaiah 55:10-13
      1. God's Word will not return VOID (cf. Luke 8:10-15)
      2. We go forth with JOY & in PEACE (cf. John 14:25-27)
      3. God's seed will not produce WEEDS (cf. Matt 13:24-30)

  2. Our COMMITMENT . . .
    1. to JESUS & His CHURCH - Colossians 1:16-18
    2. to the Lord's WORK - 1 Corinthians 15:58; Galatians 6:9
    3. What we get OUT of our meeting will depend on what we put INTO it = law of SOWING & REAPING - Galatians 6:7-8

  3. Our INFLUENCE - Matthew 5:13-16
    1. Are we spiritually fit to extend and invitation to attend?
    2. It is impossible to live as to be salt & light and not have enough influence to get at least one person to attend the meeting.
  4. Our INTEREST
    1. in SPIRITUAL vs WORLDLY things - Matthew 6:19-21
    2. In our spiritual development
      1. Ephesians 3:14-21
      2. 2 Corinthians 4:16
      3. James 1:21-25
    3. in our own SOULS and the souls of OTHERS
      1. Acts 10:33
      2. Acts 16:31-34
    4. Our interest can generally be measured by three things:
      1. How we SING
      2. How often we are PRESENT
      3. Where we SIT

  5. To SINNERS, backsliders, & religious FENCE riders
    1. John 1:1-3; 3:16-21
    2. Matthew 12:30
    3. 1 Kings 18:21
