Help Wanted: Luke 10:1-2

 

1.   “The HARVEST is truly GREAT

      a.   The Lord’s work has many OPPORTUNITIES

            i.   2 Corinthians 2:12 (cf. Acts 16:9-10)

            ii.  Colossians 4:3

 

      b.   What are we doing with the opportunities the Lord provides?

            i.   Ephesians 5:15-17

            ii.  Matthew 25:14-30

            iii. Revelation 3:7-8

            iv. John 4:35-38

 

2.   “The LABORERS are FEW” — There is always more WORK than WORKERS - why?

      a.   Because of the MAGNITUDE of the work - Mark 16:15

      b.   Because of the MEANS by which the work is accomplished:

            i.   1 Corinthians 1:17-25

            ii.  Acts 8:4

            iii. Acts 20:20, 31

      c.   Because of poor ATTITUDES on the part of the workers:

            i.   Many do not see the urgency in teaching the lost:

                  (1) John 4:35

                  (2) 150 people die every minute - over 99% unprepared

                  (3) John 9:4 (song - “Work for the night is coming”)

                  (4) Luke 4:42-43

            ii.  Many are LAZY - the Bible has NOTHING good to say regarding a lazy person:

                  (1) Proverbs 6:6-9; 24:30-34

                  (2) Proverbs 22:13; 26:13-16 any EXCUSE will suffice

                  (3) Matthew 25:26 you WICKED & LAZY servant

                  (4) 2 Thessalonians 3:10-12

                  (5) Revelation 22:14

            iii. Many are too busy minding WORLDLY things:

                  (1) Luke 14:18-19

                  (2) Revelation 3:14-18

                  (3) Matthew 6:19-21

            iv. Many are too close to the world - 2 Corinthians 6:14-18

 

3.   “Pray for the LORD of the harvest to send out LABORERS into the harvest”

      a.   The value of PRAYER

            i.   Colossians 4:3

            ii.  2 Thessalonians 3:1

            iii. When was the last time you prayed for harvest workers?

      b.   We must WORK to make our prayers a reality:

            i.   Matthew 6:11

            ii.  Isaiah 6:8
