Read 1 Timothy 3:1-7, and fill out the form below for consideration as a church member

1.  Do you have an earnest DESIRE to be a member?

     a.  Our boss demands unwavering loyalty:

          i.   Exodus 20:3-5

          ii. Joshua 24:15

          iii.      Matthew 12:30

2.  Are you BLAMELESS?

     a.  “Not open to censure, irreproachable”

     b.  Philippians 2:15; 2 Peter 3:14

3.  Are you VIGILANT? “Calm and collected in spirit, circumspect” (Titus 2:2)

4.  Are you SOBER? “Sound in mind, self-controlled, temperate” (Titus 2:2,5)

5.  Are you MODEST? (“of good behavior” - KJV) “living with decorum, well-ordered”

6.  Are you given to HOSPITALITY? (Matthew 25:35, 43)

7.  Are you willing and able to TEACH?

     a.  2 Timothy 2:24

     b.  Hebrews 5:11-14

     c.  Women are not excluded - 2 Timothy 1:5; Titus 2:4

     d.  Young Christians are not excluded - 1 Timothy 4:12-16; 2 Timothy 3:15

8.  Are you a good EXAMPLE? (“not given to wine” - KJV)

     a.  paroinon - lit. “alongside the wine” para (next to) + oinon (wine)

     b.  Matthew 5:13-16 (cf Romans 14:7-8)

9.  Are you PATIENT?

     a.  Not a striker or brawler, lit - not quarrelsome, but peaceable

     b.  “brawler” = opposite of one who strives / is contentious (2 Timothy 2:14, 24-25)

10.     Are you CONTENT? (“not covetous” - KJV) - Luke 12:15; 1 Timothy 6:6-10

11.     Do you have a good REPUTATION among non-Christians?

     a.  1 Thessalonians 4:12

     b.  1 Peter 2:12

     c.  1 Peter 3:15-16
