Make Me a Servant – Attaining Servanthood


 

1.   Submission of WILL

      a.   God cannot make you (force you to be) His servant.

      c.   Philippians 2:5-11 – the use of doulos in verse 7 is the only use of this word in reference to Jesus in the NT. In conjunction with “being found in fashion as a man” (v 8) reinforces the truth of Romans 6 that all men are slaves.

      a.   1 Samuel 3:9-10 – “Speak Lord, Thy servant heareth.” (literally, “Command Lord, and I will obey.” cf Acts 10:33)

            ii.  from the Greek “anomia” = a (anti, without) + nomia (law)
