PSALM 119: “Thy Word”

1.   God’s Word must be HEEDED – v 9

2.   God’s Word must be HIDDEN – v 11

      a.   Not in the sense of concealing it from others - 2 Cor 4:1-4 . . .

      b.   But in the sense of the parable of the soils. God’s Word must be:

            i.   RECEIVED – Mark 4:20 (cf James 1:21)

            ii.  UNDERSTOOD – Matthew 13:23 (cf Ps 119:169)

            iii. KEPT – Luke 8:15 (Ps 119:17, 67)

3.   God’s Word is our HELPER:

      a.   It STRENGTHENS – v 28 (makes us fit - 2 Sam 7:25)

      b.   It STABLISHES – v 38 (makes us firm - Ps 29:11)

      c.   It SUPPLIES – vv 41-42 (makes us full - Phil 4:19)

      d.   It SHINES – v 105 (is our floodlight - John 1:1-5)

4.   God’s Word provides HOPE – v 74, 81, 147

5.   God’s Word is a HARNESS – v 67, 101

6.   God’s Word is HEAVENLY – v 89, 160

      a.   2 Timothy 3:16-17

      b.   John 16:7-15

7.   God’s Word makes me HAPPY – v 162

      a.   Psalm 144:15; 146:5

      b.   1 Peter 3:14-15
