THE PARABLE OF THE HAND


  1. The Thumb- GOD
    1. Man is the only creature with thumbs, only man has a personal relationship with God.
      1. Genesis 1:26; 2:7
        1. all other creatures spoken into existence
        2. man formed by God, and God breathed into man the breath of life
      2. Psalm 8:3-6, 9 God initiated the relationship


    2. The thumb is the beginning of the hand: "In the beginning. . .GOD" Genesis 1:1
      1. The everlasting Father Exodus 3:6, 14
      2. The eternal Son
        1. John 1:1-3, 14
        2. Revelation 1:8 I am the A & O, the beg & end saith the Lord who was, is, is to come
      3. The eternal Spirit Acts 5:3-4 Ananias and Sapphira lied to the Holy Spirit = God


    3. The thumb is the most powerful digit:
      1. God is omnipotent: Psalm 19:1; Isiaiah 40:12; Isaiah 45:18
      2. God is omnipresent: Psalm 139:7-12 (READ)
      3. God is omniscient: I John 3:20 "God knoweth all things"


  2. The Index Finger- others, used for pointing: Matthew 7:12 the golden rule
    1. We point when we spot someone in need
      1. Philippians 2:4 "look not every man upon his own things, but every man also on the things-
      2. Galatians 6:3, 10 "bear ye one anothers burdens, and so fulfill. . . as we therefore have. . .
      3. James 1:27 pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this. . .
    2. We point out good things: 2 Cor. 8:1 Macedonian liberality; I Thes 1 Thessalonian faith
    3. We point out danger

  3. The Middle Finger- sin or the grace of God
    1. Take prominence, and is the most easily seen.
      1. Romans 6:12-13
      2. Titus 2:11-12 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation, hath appeared. . .
      3. Romans 5:20 Where sin abounded, grace did much more abound


  4. The Ring Finger- the Church
    1. On this finger is placed the symbol of everlasting love at marriage. Matthew 19:5-6
    2. The Church is the bride of Christ:
      1. Revelation 21:2 I, John saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God.
      2. Ephesians 5:22-32 (READ)




  1. The Pinky Finger- the judgment day, a short period of time II Peter 3:10
    1. It is the end of the hand, signifying the end of time I Corinthians 15:51-52
    2. All the other digits lead up to the judgment
      1. Your relationship with God
      2. Your relationship with others
      3. Your relationship with sin or Grace
      4. Your relationship with the Church




  2. The judgment is not the end, GOD is: Psalm 90:2 thou art God from everlasting to everlasting
