Will You Be Ready in the Morning? Exodus 34:2


  1. Abimelech was ready for PRAYER in the morning - Genesis 20
    1. Psalm 5:1-3
    2. Psalm 55:17
    3. Every morning should begin with prayer.


  2. Abraham was ready to SACRIFICE in the morning - Genesis 22:1-3
    1. He was going to give up that for which he had waited 25 years.
    2. Abraham expected a PROVISION from God - Genesis 22:6-8
      1. Genesis 22:5 the lad and I will go yonder . . . and RETURN
      2. Hebrews 11:17-19
    3. Romans 12:1-2
    4. Attending Bible Class & Worship is not sacrifice - it is when we present ourselves to God after making sacrifice on Monday - Saturday.
    5. Begin each day with the understanding that all that I am and have belongs to God and should be ready for sacrifice in His service.


  3. Rebekah was ready to FOLLOW in the morning - Genesis 24:54-58
    1. Rebekah's BLESSING came after she was willing to follow- v 60
    2. Matthew 16:24-26
    3. John 10:1-5, 27
    4. Hebrews 12:14


  4. Moses was up for the CHALLENGE in the morning - Exodus 7:15; 8:20; 9:13
    1. Pharoah was the most powerful man on earth and Moses was sent to face him.
    2. How much more awesome is our responsibility to be ready to meet the challenge of the Judgment:
      1. Hebrews 10:31 - it is a FEARFUL thing to fall into God's hands
      2. 2 Corinthians 5:10 - ALL must appear at the Judgment
      3. Romans 14:12 - Everyone must give an ACCOUNT of himself
      4. Revelation 20:12-15 (cf. John 12:48)




  1. God will DELIVER us in the morning - Exodus 14:24-30
    1. His GLORY shall be seen - Exodus 16:7
    2. Some will have JOY - Psalm 30:5
    3. Unlike with Lot, God will not be MERCIFUL- Genesis 19:12-16
      1. God's angels warned Lot of Sodom's destruction - vv 12-13
      2. Lot went out to gather his family - v 14
      3. His sons-in-law wagged their heads - v 14

        2. Mark 15:29
      4. Lot waited, yet was spared by God's mercy - v 16
      5. Some say they will be saved as the thief on the cross . . . unbaptized
        1. It cannot be proven that the thief was not baptized - Matthew 3:5-6
        2. the thief lived under the Old Law
        3. Jesus had power while on earth to forgive sins - Matthew 9:1-8
        4. Jesus has left the power of forgiveness in his blood (Eph 1:7; Rev. 1:5) through the hearing, believing, and obedience to the GOSPEL (Mk 16:15-16; Rom 1:16)
    4. We must WATCH & be READY for that morning - Ps 130:6-8
